booo.

HALLOWEEN.

Kind of a cool holiday. Because we can dress up in costumes and carve pumpkins and eat lots of candy. All great activities.

My favorite part of this year was my costume. My roommates and I were a group costume....

SHARK WEEK. We all made shirts that had a picture of a shark along with a day of the week. So great! I really enjoyed making the shirts...took me back to Superfan days at FCHS.

It was a great Halloween weekend...

dedicated to...

My brother, JARED.

And the entire FCHS boys soccer team.

On to the quarter finals. Go get em!

The team all cut their hair in weird ways to celebrate! Cute? I'm thinking..not.

And also, a tiny bit of mourning for soccer in general. This season will probs mark the last time Jared will play on an official team for awhile. And I'm missing seeing it happen. I'll miss being able to sit on the sidelines in the early morning cold, the sunny afternoons, or the cold evenings on the bleachers. I'll miss seeing my little brother exude confidence out on the field. It's where he's most at home and I love seeing him in the atmosphere. I'll miss asking him questions about how the game went afterwards. "Good......fine.....yep...."

So thank you for the last years of enjoying the game and GOOD LUCK!

it's coming!

Halloween! Almost here!

I'm not a super big Halloween person. But I do really love costumes. Of all kinds. So I'm super pumped about the costume that I planned with some of my roommates/friends at Butler. It's going to be GREAT! Just you wait.

And, it helps to get into the Halloween spirit when I can walk in the front door of Alpha Phi and see this.

And when I get to help paint bats on a banner. I love bats. Because I do live in the BAT CAVE.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

in case you haven't heard...

There is a Butler Cribs video contest going on...like MTV, only cooler.

And my roommates and I decided to enter.

1. Because we want to win the prize.

2. Because we want to show off the Alpha Bat Cave to it's finest.

3. Because we are so funny & we wanted to video ourselves being straight up weird.

So, because of all of these reasons, we created the best video ever. We didn't realize the deadline until 20 minutes before. Therefore, we were quite last minute. It was late at night and we had no plan...and that's what made it wonderful.

Check it out. Vote. Or else.

my big screen debut!

Sometimes I just really love college. Today is one of those days.

I love how flexible it is. I love that people know that you have class, but that you can rearrange your schedule to do cool things. And you can manage your own time however you want.

So, duh, went to work and class today. But also made time to write some letters to people that mean a lot to mean. And spent some time looking up my potential class schedule for next semester. (Actually one of my true favorite parts of college!)

And then got the chance to be in an Admissions Office video. It's the video that every potential student who comes to visit Butler will see. And I'm in it! COOL!

And all I had to do was rearrange my schedule a little bit. Leave my homework for a little bit later. And then, Ta-Da! There you go.

I'll make sure to let everyone know when my debut is out on video.

everybody cut loose...

Footloose.

Saw this movie last night with Meredith, Mel, & Sam. It. Was. The. Best. Movie. Ever.

All I want to do is sing and dance and I wish my life was a musical. We all walked out of the theatre smiling and couldn't be any happier.

Downloaded the soundtrack, put it on repeat, and it's going to get make my Sunday a fun day.

yay!!!!!

My best friends..my best of the best of the best friends are thinking of coming out to visit me at Butler next semester. I went to visit some of them at their school at Baylor last year and it was the best weekend ever. Everything was awesome. I loved every second of it.

So, basically I can't wait until I hear confirmation of these beautiful girls coming out to Indiana so we can have the BEST DAY EVER. (I used the word best too much, but this deserves it!)

These girls are the best of the best of the best, sir. And yes, they are as fun in real life as they look in pictures.

numero dos

I'm in an art class this semester and I love it. More than anything else I'm taking. I get to pretend to be an artist.

Our second project was due this last week and I am very proud of it. Even if I did do some of it last minute. Don't worry about it. I based my project idea on this quote:

"Find flaws in the beauty and beauty with flaws."

on Fall Break. "flaws in beauty"
"beauty with flaws"

Just some interesting ideas that I really enjoyed exploring through art.

Fall Break was last weekend. No Thursday or Friday classes. Could life get any better?

This year, instead of trying to fly home and spend a few days sleeping and hanging out with my family (not that I wouldn't have loved to do that), I decided to go on Fall Alternative Break...nicknamed FAB...which is not pronounced fob for those of you wondering.

It was wonderful in every sense. We stayed at the South Appalachian Folklife Center in dorms where we cooked all of our own food and got to run around, be crazy, have bonfires, explore the wilderness, and not be stressed out college students for a few days.

We worked on helping to make a house suitable for a couple who had just purchased it. Basically, we painted for three days straight. And we painted everything blue. I was covered in blue paint by the end of the trip.

The service was totally worth going on the trip. It was very rewarding to help these people and give back when I could've been sitting on a couch somewhere catching up on sleep.

But the people and fun activities were what made it. The group that went was eclectic and strange, but we came together and had the best time. I got to step out of my comfort zone and interact with people that I don't talk to on Butler's campus. I know that I have a few more friends walking around and people that I can say hi to on the way to class.

We also went on a hike in a nearby state park and went to a local music festival. I really just was reminded that all of America is beautiful and different. This area reminded me of Colorado so much and reminded me that I really do love the outdoors. So much. I want to be a mountain woman.

So, good choice, Abby. Good choice for choosing to step outside of what felt right and what was easy and doing something that was a little bit "alternative." It always pays off in the end.

target boutique is...

MY favorite place in the world somedays.

I was so pumped to go there on Sunday. It had been too long. I'm sorry, Target for neglecting our relationship.

The dollar section always produces some winners...this time, some sweet skinny headbands and some really cute cards for me to mail around the country.

Thanks, girls, for that impromptu trip to my happiest place on earth.

more fall photos...

I just can't stop taking fall pictures! Campus is SO beautiful right now. It doesn't hurt that it's been in the upper 70's for the last week and half. I'm literally waking up every morning praying/thinking that the frost is going to come and it's going to be freezing.

Please no. Just a little bit longer.

why not...

Sometimes I just have to say, why not? If I want to do something, why not do it?

Why not get a spray tan before my sorority formal this weekend? (I think that you should try MOST things at least once in life...hence my first spray tan this week!)

Why not go get ice cream tonight? Brics is always yummy. And I love being able to hang out with people that I value. Thanks for a great night, Courtney, Audrey, Libby, and Courtney!

And why not? Why not go paint our nails, outside, in the dark, on the curb by the street?

Thanks Avery, for saying why not with me and having some real talk. Love it.

butler fun...

Sometimes I'm just amazed at the things that Butler does. It makes me happy to see all these totally awesome activities/people/events/etc around campus.

My most recent favorite...a dance we filmed to get Jimmy Fallon to come to campus when he's here taping his late night show during the Super Bowl.

Chchchcheck it out...

studying about brains

Had my first test for my biological psychology class this week. Actually the Biological Bases of Psychology, PS 253-01 to be exact.

And it is one of the classes that I love. I really enjoy learning about the brain and all of its structures and functions and how it works.

So, I was super excited to start studying for it. I went to the library, took out my whiteboard marker and produced these beauties...

Just my pictures of the brain. I'm super proud of them. It's cool...I'm a nerd & loving it.

sitting in the sand

What a better way to spend one of the most beautiful days in a long time, a gorgeous fall day, then with two kids at the park. Loved playing imaginary games, going on the swings, and crushing all of the "sand rocks."

Makes me excited for motherhood one day....and now I'm just thinking like one of my best friends, Ellen.

memories.

We had the best Alpha Phi event ever on Friday night. Got into cars in the afternoon and drove 40 miles to our president's house...she lives on a farm. COOL!

So, we filled our Friday night with horses (I rode Ebony!) and miniature baby goats...which are probably the cutest things I've ever seen in my entire life. Can we take one home to keep in the backyard????

We created...wooden picture frames and some really awesome friendship bracelets. I taught these three everything they know about tying strings together. :)

Finally followed by an exciting hay ride around the property, some yummy s'mores and hot dogs, and last, a bonfire with some scary stories to boot!

So great. Couldn't have asked for a better Friday night with these girls.

the times...they are a-changing...

It's FALL.

YAY..and EW.

I decided that I like fall. Nothing more. I really just like seasons in general. But, if I'm being realistic, I just love the other seasons so much more.

I love summer...when I can call a swim in the lake a "shower." And when I can run around in my swimsuit all day. And when camp is. Because camp is summer on crack..the best part.

I love spring...when flowers start blooming. And I'm sick of being claustrophobic by all of the clothes. And the atmosphere is one of change. And it's March Madness. Go Dawgs.

I love winter...when I get to go back to Colorado and ski. And sled (and hurt myself!). And drink hot cocoa and have cool winter parties with my friends where we dress up and be super fancy.

So I guess I like fall. Not more than any of the other seasons. But I still like it. Because it looks like this....

Pretty. And it's only going to get prettier.

And I can go on walks with Meredith. Which always makes me happy. So thank you Fall for that.
